Member retention: what percentage of fund members (hospital memberships) have remained with the fund for two years or more.

Complaints: a higher number indicates the members of the fund are more likely to complain than the average of all fund members.

Finances

Returned benefits: the percentage of total contributions, received by the fund, returned to contributors in benefits.

Management expenses: shown as a proportion of total fund contributions.

Fees: average management expense (in $AUD) per membership.

Surplus: the surplus or loss made by the fund in 2018–19 as a percentage of the fund’s contribution income.

Hospital cover

“No gaps”: the proportion of services for which a gap is not payable by the patient after the impact of fund benefits, schemes and agreements.
